Interpreter Service

This can be organised  via a telephone system during your consultation, or with an interpreter in person. If you wish an interpreter in person, this can be arranged with prior notice.

Midwives

Midwives offer advice, and support to all mothers and provide care before the birth of your baby and will visit you at home post delivery. The midwives are based at the Triage clinic in Stirling Royal Infirmary.

Health Visitor

The Health Visitor comes to see all parents with newborn babies between the 10th and 14th day post-natal. She offers home visits up to 8 weeks, or you can attend the baby clinic. Advice and support is available if you have concerns about your child. She can also offer information on immunisations, weaning, sleep management, behavioural management and potty training, as well as post natal depression, and breast-feeding.

Community Nurses

The Community Nurses work with us to provide nursing care, support and advice to all patients especially the housebound. They will also visit at home if required following your discharge from hospital.

Strathcarron Community Clinical Nurse

The nurse in this area is Sarah Lansdowne, and she works very closely with the GPs and the Community Nurses providing care and support for people who are living with progressive illness such as cancer and neurological conditions.

Physiotherapist

The Physiotherapist is in the Medical Centre every Tuesday and Wednesday. Appointments usually take 30 minutes. You can self refer to the Physiotherapist, or be referred by your GP.

Podiatrist

The Podiatrist service is run by Stirling Royal Infirmary and has a clinic in Callander every Thursday. Appointments are arranged via the hospital after being referred for assessment by your GP.

Pharmaceutical Services

There are 2 Pharmacies in Callander; both dispense prescriptions, offer advice on medication and minor ailments. An emergency supply of regular repeat medication can be obtained if necessary, and a special dispensing system for registered Asthma/COPD patients is available. The Pharmacists can also give smoking cessation counselling, free supply of emergency hormonal contraception; free Chlamydia testing and oxygen supplies. Each Pharmacy has a confidential room and no appointment is necessary. Unwanted medicine can be handed in, or collected for destruction by the Pharmacist.

Disease Clinics and Specialist Services Clinics

The Practice Nurse specialises in Contraception/HRT, Asthma, Diabetes, Heart Disease, Thyroid, Warfarin, Epilepsy, Hypertension, Lithium, Stroke, Smoking Cessation, Teenage Health, Travel Advice, Well Woman, Well Man and Geriatric Screening.

Dr Strang specialises in some minor surgery.

Medicals

Our Doctors are happy to undertake medicals out with normal surgery hours. A list of fees is available on the patient’s notice board. We need you to give as much notice as possible, as most medicals take approximately 1 hour.

Disease Monitoring

Letters are sent out to patients with chronic conditions, to remind you that you are due a review. However, it is up to the patient to make the appointment and keep it. The letter will state how long the review appointment needs to be.
